Tripwire

Convert a fresh subscriber into a paying customer within minutes using a low-priced item that costs less than hesitating.

What it adds

From your source files the builder carves out one small, complete, immediately usable piece of your paid knowledge and prices it where the decision is reflexive rather than considered. It converts by changing the buyer's self-identity — the point is the transaction, not the margin — so the page removes every friction that invites deliberation. Success is measured as first-time purchasers created, not revenue per visitor.

What your builder is told to do

7

The actual instructions, in order.

  1. 1

Open the source files and identify what the prior free step logically leaves undone; the tripwire must be the next twenty minutes of that person's work, not a different subject.

  2. 2

Carve out a self-contained deliverable that can be finished in one sitting, and describe it by what the buyer will have finished, not by how many pages or minutes it contains.

  3. 3

Anchor the price against the effort it replaces using only facts the source files support, then state the price plainly and once — no crossed-out figures you cannot substantiate.

  4. 4

Place the offer immediately after the free-asset delivery so it appears while attention is highest, and write the opening line as a bridge from the asset just received.

  5. 5

Collapse checkout into the same view: no separate cart step, card fields visible without a click, and a single button whose label names the deliverable.

  6. 6

Define layout rules: mobile shows offer summary, price, and payment fields in one uninterrupted scroll with a sticky purchase button; tablet keeps the summary above the fold with payment directly beneath; desktop uses a narrow single column, since a two-column checkout invites comparison behavior at this price point.

  7. 7

Instrument the funnel: fire the first-purchase event, tag the buyer distinctly from subscribers, suppress the tripwire from anyone who already bought it, and route new buyers to the next-stage sequence rather than the nurture sequence.

Edge cases it handles

5

The things an agent skips when you only say "build a tripwire".

  • The visitor declines and returns later: keep the offer available but do not escalate urgency the source files cannot support.
  • Payment fails mid-attempt: preserve entered details, show the specific decline reason, and keep the buyer on the same screen.
  • The buyer is in a region with different tax or currency handling: display the total the card will actually be charged before the button.
  • The prior free step was skipped and the visitor arrives cold: prepend two sentences of context so the offer is not orphaned.
  • The deliverable overlaps a higher-priced product in the source files: trim the tripwire so it does not cannibalize the larger offer.

Definition of done

7

Your builder is required to check every one of these before reporting the work finished.

  • The offer is a direct continuation of the immediately preceding funnel step, verifiable against a named source file.
  • Checkout completes without leaving the offer view and requires no account creation.
  • Price is displayed once, with the final charged total shown before submission.
  • Mobile, tablet, and desktop layouts each keep price and purchase control simultaneously visible.
  • New buyers are tagged as customers and removed from the pre-purchase sequence automatically.
  • Repeat purchasers are suppressed from seeing the offer again.
  • The builder lists the source files used, which price rationale came from them, and any unresolved assumptions.

How it works

  1. 1

    Copy the link

Grab the Markdown blueprint URL for this offer type.

  2. 2

    Give it to your builder

Paste it into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or whatever AI builder is already working in your app.

  3. 3

    It maps, then builds

Your agent reads the blueprint first, then builds the offer into your app around the product, audience, and stack.

Works with your stack

These blueprints are written to adapt. They tell the agent to detect your framework, match your existing design system, and use your source files instead of guessing the offer.

Need it tighter than that? Customize the offer file and tell it exactly which source docs and stack to use.
